The Outer Banks are quiet from November to March, and the Carova beach is open to 4x4s all year. Come for two nights, any days of the week, drive the vehicle you’re shopping for half a day, and head home with one no-haggle price in writing.
The plan
Three days, one decision
Any day of the week works. Pick the three days that suit you.
- Day one
Arrive at the ocean
Check into the oceanfront Hilton Garden Inn in Kitty Hawk. Dinner, a walk on the beach, no dealership appointment.
- Day two
Drive it for half a day
Keys at the hotel, up North Carolina Highway 12 (the two-lane road up the Outer Banks) through Duck and Corolla, then about three hours on the Carova 4x4 beach. Your certificate arrives by email that evening.
- Day three
Head home with the number
A slow morning by the water, then home with a written price good for 30 days. Order the build you want and take delivery near home.
Good to know
Winter on the sand
Winter is quieter on the beach and on the roads. A few things work differently in the colder months.
- Daylight
- Drives start in the morning so the beach part ends well before dark.
- Weather
- If wind or high water closes the beach, we move your date at no charge. Book a hotel rate you can change, in case the date moves.
- The horses
- The wild horses live on the Carova beach all year. They come and go as they please, so no one can promise a sighting.
- Where to stay
- The drive starts at the Hilton Garden Inn Outer Banks/Kitty Hawk, right on the ocean. Book your room directly with the hotel.
- Bring
- A warm jacket for the walk-around and your phone for pictures. The 4x4 has heat, and the top stays on in the cold.
